Have a great weekend everyone! We'll be looking for the latest trends and breaking away from the computer for a while. What will you be doing?

Cori, the online editor intern, will be camping. With summer winding down, it may be the last chance to explore being rugged - for a maximum of two nights. Beyond that, she'll be heading to the nearest relaxing shower!

Let us know what hot fashions and products you find over the weekend. Next week we'll post more excerpts from the August issue. Talk to you then!

Model on the Rise

We want to recognize our friend, plus size model Maggie B. She Rocked the Runway in July and hasn’t stopped. This month she is PLUS Model Magazine’s cover model, and she was chosen as IGIGI clothing line’s national model search winner.
Way to go, girl!

Maggie first garnered national attention when she won the Tyra Banks Thick and Sexy Top Model Competition in the fall of 2006. The illustrious Wilhelmina modeling agency then signed her. Maggie has since been in ads for Torrid, Walmart, and Mervyn’s.

You can bet you’ll see this kindhearted and determined lady in magazines and ads for years to come.

Congratulations, Maggie, from SKORCH Magazine!

Music Must

Are you longing for the experience of a live performance but can’t make it to a concert? Then you must buy Live at Radio City Music Hall: Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds.

Released on August 14, the 2-CD compilation transports you to the New York concert where the two master-musicians entranced audiences on April 22, 2007. Matthews’ friendly and funny comments draw you in. The surreal sounds make you stay. Reynolds and Matthews create full orchestra sounds – both relaxing and uplifting. With familiar songs like “When the World Ends” and “Crash Into Me,” you’ll sing along like you would in person. New songs like "Cornbread” and “Eh Hee” give you the urge to pool
money to catch a final Dave Matthews Band summer concert.

You won’t regret owning this wonderfully recorded gem.
(Amazon.com - CD, $11.99, DVD, $16.99)

Send your music tips to: cori@skorchmagazine.com. And, as always, the SKORCH team welcomes your feedback.

Summer Makeup

When it comes to wearing makeup during the heat of summer, less is more. You don't need many products to get the pulled-together glow of glamour that you want. In fact, the more you put on, the goopier the mess when it melts.

A great product to start with, year-round, is sunblock. We know: You hate the smell and feel of ones you've used in the past. Well, the lotions have gotten better since the zinc oxide days of your childhood. You can find light spray-on sunblock or ones like Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock. It has a light scent and dries fast; you can use it instead of your daily moisturizer.

So now all you need is a little shimmer.Try using some
bronzer on your cheeks and T-zone. (One favorite is Clinique's Shimmering Tones Powder.) Then slick on some shiny lip gloss that's not too sticky. A nice neutral one is L'Oreal Colour Riche lip gloss in "Rich Rose." Now you're good to go!

Check out the July issue of SKORCH magazine for makeup that won't melt and the August issue for nude lip tips - http://www.skorchmagazine.com./

What's your favorite summer beauty product? Send us a comment; we'd love to hear from you!

What's Your Scent Signature?

At SKORCH, we’re all about expressing individuality in sexy, hip ways. One way to create part of your identity is through scents. Perfumes, lotions, and hair products combine to create your signature. If you’re like us, you change it up according to moods and what kind of sexy you want to feel for the day. Often when you smooth on the lotion or spritz the perfume that makes you feel good, other people are going to notice. So, check out this month’s issue for the fragrance of the season. And let us know what your favorite, signature scent is.

One scent we love is Bath & Body Works Gardenia lotions and shower gels.

Close your eyes, breathe deep, and you’ll think you’re in Hawaii when wearing it. We look forward to hearing from you!
